The Prime Appliance Repair workshop recently received a call from a Charlotte, NC 28207 homeowner. They were looking for assistance because their Sub-Zero 532 had stopped making ice.

The machine had completely stopped, and the homeowner was left with no ice at all. We arranged to visit the customer’s home to inspect the machine.

Testing the Existing Ice Maker

The service technician’s first action on arrival at the home was to attempt to initiate a service test cycle. The unit did not rotate or start the cycle as it should.

There was no alternative but to replace the complete ice maker assembly. This repair photo shows the old assembly on the countertop after removal. The replacement assembly is identical, so we didn’t take a picture of it.

Checking the Replacement Assembly

We initiated a second test when we’d finished installing the new assembly.

This time, the ice maker completed its rotation and filled with water as it should.

That check confirmed that the new assembly could cycle and fill. We also confirmed that the ice maker went on to produce ice under normal operation.

First Ice Confirmed by the Homeowner

We called the homeowner to follow up a couple of hours later. They confirmed that they had their first batch of ice.

We’d completed the repair in a single visit. The photograph of the reassembled freezer interior was taken after we’d finished the work.
