KitchenAid Dishwasher Leaking from the Left Side of the Door in Charlotte
In this repair
In a recent call to Prime Appliance Repair, a homeowner from Charlotte, NC 28226, reported a leak on the left side of her KitchenAid dishwasher door. She had noticed the leak during the washing cycle.

The service technician was able to reproduce the problem on arrival at the home, noticing the water dripping from the door.
On inspection, we found that the lower door seal on this KitchenAid KDTM604KPS1 had hardened and deformed. There were no tears, but the door seal could no longer hold shape or seal effectively.
Replacing the Lower Door Seal
We removed the outer door panel to get to the repair area. Then we replaced the lower door seal. There was no need to change any other parts during this dishwasher repair.

The repair photographs show the work in progress and the new and old seals side by side. The old seal is on the left and the replacement on the right.

Testing on the Homeowner's Usual Cycle
Before we tested the machine, we asked the homeowner which cycle they normally used. They chose Normal, so we ran the “Normal” cycle with the new seal.
We monitored the dishwasher for around 40 minutes while working on a dryer in the same home. There was no water leaking from the door during the observation period. We completed the dishwasher repair in a single visit, leaving a homeowner who was happy with the service visit outcome.
Dishwasher Leak Repair in Charlotte
The lower door seal, in this case, was deformed and hardened rather than visibly torn. We were able to identify the repair requirements by replicating the problem and inspecting the seal.
